Chatter Quilt

by Lori Hyde

Although I've sewn most my life, I didn't start quilting until a year ago after a friend taught me.

I made this quilt with mostly "stash" fabric but bought 4 additional fabrics to toss in. I never use patterns, and thought of diamonds and squares when starting it.

I decided to stitch in the ditch and instead of backing material, I purchased a 100% cotton sheet. I have grown to like sheets for my backing now.

After it was completed, it appeared to be saying a lot so I called it "Chatter". My sister was the receiver of this beautiful quilt.

I hope it brings her many years of comfort and joy.

I'm not usually fond of "scrappy" quilts. They make my head feel cluttered. I love yours! The colors are clear and cheerful, and it makes the quilt look cozy. I'm wondering if you planned ahead for color position. At any rate, I'm inspired to have a go at getting rid of some of my small leftovers.

Nice job!
