Calming the Storm at Sea

by Pamela Barnes

My dearest friends are going through some medical challenges. I stumbled on this free paper pieced pattern (THANK YOU!!!!!) and thought I would attempt a twin size quilt for their couch.

In the middle I used white blocks to make the cross, and I call it "Calming the Storm at Sea" because I hope their faith and the quilt bring them some calm during their storms.

Pattern
by: Pamela Barnes

I apologize for not responding, I had no idea so many people left comments and didn't think to look. Thank you, it certainly was the most heart-touching quilt I've made.

Last year I made a patriotic wave version that you can see at QuiltsByPamela dot com.

For this cross version there is no specific patter. I simply used the paper piecing templates and after I colored in the design with blues/whites, I took a sharpie and outlined what I thought was a decent size cross. And inside the outline I made sure I used white fabric, even if the block called for blue. I'm not sure that makes sense, but I can email my note sheet if you'd like.

Just email me at Info@QuiltsByPamela.com

Wonderful Quilt

You did a great job. I am making one of these for my husband and am piecing it. Wish I had found the paper pattern and each block takes about 5 hours to piece. I don't know if I'll ever finish it!!

Love it!

I love paper pieced quilts. I recently finished a double wedding ring quilt for a friend. It was in a California king quilt size. If you could and feel comfortable with it, I would like to have the link to that pattern. Thanks, Myra

Beautiful Quilt
by: Kim Downey

I am sure that your friend will get much comfort from such a beautiful quilt. Like a prayer shawl, I believe that the good intentions that are sewn into each stitch, are transferred to the recipient. Such a kind gift .
