Illini Prairie Quilters

by Sherry DelCostello
(Robinson, IL)

The Illini Prairie Quilters group was formed in the spring of 1994 in Robinson, Illinois so that quilters in Crawford County and surrounding areas could quilt together and learn from each other. The first regular guild meeting was held on September 26, 1994 and continues to meet the fourth Monday of each month (except December), at 7:00pm, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 801 W. Emmons Street, Robinson, IL.

Visitors and new members are always welcome. Annual dues remain at $12.00 per year. The Guild participates in two annual Quilt Shows. Both are held at the Oblong, IL Municipal Building on South Range Street. The summer show is during the East Central Shop Hop, held the second Thursday, Friday and Saturday in July. The autumn Guild Quilt Show is held the last Saturday of October during the Oblong Fall Follies.

Each year the Guild makes two baby quilts. One to be given to the first New Years baby born at Crawford Memorial Hospital. The second baby quilt is given to the first baby born on National Quilt Day in March.

Monthly guild meetings feature members' quilts, refreshments, activities or programs, and a block-of-the-month. Our yearly auction is held at the August meeting and the December meeting is the Christmas dinner/party.

The Illini Prairie Quilters are proud to host Edyta Sitar of Laundry Baskets Quilts June 14, 15 and 16, 2012.

Looking for a Guild, Bee
by: Judy Wilson

Moved to Fairfield, Il from Texas and looking for a guild and a bee in my area. Would you be the closest one, you are about 1.5 hrs. If so would there be others from this area?
Thanks so much for any info you can share.
