Kenya Quilt Guild
The Kenya Quilt Guild is a vibrant cosmopolitan group of people who love the art of quilting.
Our largest group is found in and around Nairobi. Guild meetings are held monthly (except for the months of August and December) on the 3rd Thursday. WEAL house, the East African Women’s League Headquarters, on Bishops Road is where they are held. Members and guests are asked to gather at 9:30 a.m. to sign in, browse the library and socialize. The business meeting begins promptly at 10:00.
Meetings include guest speakers, demonstrations and/or workshops as well as a regular business to keep member current with guild happenings.
Several of our members create their own hand-dyed fabrics, embroideries and other quilting related items. Many tines members have the opportunity to buy fabrics, quilting magazines and other quilt related items at the meetings. We maintain a very comprehensive library. The books, patterns and DVDs can be checked out by the members for a small fee.
Smaller groups meet regularly at members’ homes and offer each advice and support on their individual projects. We also have an active group at the coast who meet regularly in Mombasa and a scattering of members up-country in more remote areas.
