|Welcome to "The Quilting Party"!|
If you are interested in meeting other quilters, learning new things, sharing experiences and growing as a quilter, this guild is for you!
The group was established on September 8, 1998.
The mission of The Quilting Party is to share the art of quilting and fellowship, be a source of information, inspiration, and encouragement, and to engage in community service projects.
The monthly meetings on the first Tuesday start at 6:30 pm with social time. Programs begin at 7 pm and could be a featured topic, a guest speaker, a lecture, demonstrations or hands-on activities. Each evening includes Show and Tell. It is always fun and exciting to see what members of the guild have been doing.
Our evening in December features a “One Yard - New Fabric Exchange”, the Christmas pot luck, and plenty of time to socialize.
We generally meet at the St. Michaels Lutheran Church on 2308 Merrimac Road in Blacksburg (from Prices Fork Road turn left just past the Blacksburg High School). Members are encouraged to be active in the group and to attend as many meetings as possible through out the year.
Quilters of all skill levels are welcome! Our members like to share their knowledge on different techniques.
Every year we meet and work on charity quilts in various sizes. Other group activities might include block raffles and “The Challenge”, where members work with a special theme, title or a designated fabric. Through trips to fabric shops, visits to quilt exhibits, annual retreats, and volunteering at the Blue Ridge Quilt Festival (a quilt show in Blacksburg), we keep our friendship in the group growing.
We have officers whose preparation, organization and care keep the guild running smoothly. The annual dues of $18 (2012) are used for guild expenses, rent, and to partially cover fees for teachers and lecturers.
For those who are unsure if the guild is for them, we extend an invitation to be a guest at our meetings. Come and meet us!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact our membership coordinator Karin Tauber. Her phone number is 540-961-5222 and her email is BRQFest@aol.com.
