Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

by Barb

Editor's Note:

While the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is not a quilt guild in the strictest sense of the word, it does, however, provide quilters the opportunity to share and foster their love of quilting, to learn new skills, and to view and appreciate the work of other quilters. You can become a member of the Museum and take full advantage of all that this great quilting resource has to offer. (I am envious of those quilters near to Golden.) For those reasons, it is being included in the Quilt Guilds section of this website.

The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum has so much to offer members, both young and old. With 3-4 shows and exhibits per year, a kids program, speakers and classes, a market and a library there is always something to engage quilters of all ages, skill levels, and interests.

The RMQM Library houses more than 3000 titles covering a wide range of quilting-related topics. All quilters are able to use the facility for research; members of RMQM may check out tomes from the collection.

Quilt Appraisal Days are offered periodically with certified quilt appraisers on hand to evaluate your quilts. Call or visit the website for more information.

'Sunday at the Museum' lectures are a series of six talks, all quilting related.

Quilting educators are available for group tours or providing presentations to your school or quilting group. Tours for groups of 15 or more are available with 14 days advance notice.

Summers at the Museum mean time specifically for kids. Both 'I Can Sew!' and 'I Can Quilt' summer camps are available to both members and non-members alike. Call for more information.

The museum will remain open for Golden’s “First Fridays” until 7PM on the first Friday of every month. For more information about First Fridays and things to do in Golden visit www.Golden.com.

There is plenty of free parking in the lot behind the Museum.

As an added convenience, the museum is two blocks from the Coors Brewery (and brewery tours).

If you're a member or have visited the museum, please leave your recommendations via the 'comments' link below so that other quilters have the benefit of your experience. Thank you!
