Laurie's Quilt

My sister Laurie is a very talented fiber artist with Parkinson's Illness. She makes me cowls, hats, etc.

When I saw the "You Might Have an Angel Near" quilt I bought the kit.

It took me forever to piece all the border blocks but during that time I kept gathering embellishments. Last week she went home with my sister who is thrilled since I made her a mini-Laurie. My sister dresses with lots of bling, hair every color of the rainbow.

Please enlarge the picture so you can see details. I heavily quilted the hair, the wings have metallic thread. My favorite touch is the hair that after I quilted I added foil to create lots of color. I also foiled the halo. There are also lots of hot fix crystals. Rings, necklace on the skirt in the flower.

I love the end result!

From the Editor: Linda, I tried enlarging the photo but I can't enlarge enough to see the details clearly. If you'd like to send photos of the detail (I'd LOVE to see it!) use my personal email address at:

Thank you! Fabulous quilt! Wonderful story!

I'm not a very sentimental person, but this quilt is so charming and such a sweet thought.

Best to you and your sisters.

Sisters
by: Billie Jean

I know how you can feel when you do something for your sister. 3 Years ago my sister lost her hubby to cancer. She was so devastated. She drank all the time and she was totally lost. She has a grandson of 6 years, he's the apple of her eye. Her daughter found a place 5 miles from my home. They offered to let sister put a trailer in. Best thing that ever happened. She goes to church with me, takes grandson to Bible study Wednesday nights, as I pick them up. I never see her with a drink. Most of all, she is learning to give herself to God. My second quilt was a Bethlehem Star King size. I quilted it all by hand and was so excited when I gave it to her. She has come a long way with GOD. I am very thankful
