Need to find a hand quilter

by Sue Savonije
(Rutherford,NJ)

Is there someone in northern New Jersey who does hand quilting. I have to quilt tops that need to be quilted and I would like them to be hand done.

Hi Sue!

I wish I could help you out, but I don't know and don't keep a list of hand quilters for hire on the website.

I suggest two things.

First, contact quilt shops in your area (click here to find NJ Quilt Shops). They may be able to point you in the right direction. If that doesn't work, then...

Try one of the local quilt guilds. Click here for a listing of New Jersey quilt guilds). There may be someone in the guild who does this, or knows.

My final idea is to contact one of the Amish shops out in Lancaster County. There may be a group of Amish or Mennonite ladies that do this work.

Good luck to you.

Readers, do you have hand quilter you can recommend? Do share using the 'comments' link below.

Thank you!

Krazy Quilters Hand Quilting Services

We hand quilt as a group of ladies from a quilt club in Northern Indiana. From what I can see on the internet, our prices are more reasonable per sq foot than many others. All proceeds from our quilting go to local food pantries and volunteer fire departments in Pulaski County, Indiana.

I would be more than happy to send you our prices. We do charge $10.00 for the basting of the quilt sandwich.

Willing to hand quilt for others
by: Nancy

Have been hand quilting for 40+ years and love it. Am willing to do projects for those who appreciate nice hand quilting, of course there would be a charge, depending on the size of the quilt, and time you require to have it done. Have done several quilts for others, as well as many of my own. I can be reached at nancyjmanzey@gmail.com

hand quilting.
by: jan clark

I live in Mississippi. I have been hand quilting for over 30 years. Mail your quilts to me and I will hand quilt them.

Jan Clark

From the Editor: Hi Jan! I just saw your offer.

If you would like to offer your hand quilting services through this website, please go to Share your Quilts, write about your services and then post several pictures of quilts you have done so that my readers have a chance to see your work. A full size picture of a quilt and then several smaller close-ups would do. If you want more than 4 pictures, you are welcome to email them to me at hdfbyjulie@live.com (my personal email address) and tell me what they are for. I'll be happy to edit them into the page.

Include contact information, too, so that interested piecers can get a hold of you! (Facebook or email or website or phone or...)

Thanks.

hand quilter
by: Gollytwo

I don't know anyone in NJ
I live in NH and wanted a top handquilted - found a wonderful hand quilter in Alabama - Martha Joy Troyer. She's on Facebook with many examples of her work. If you click Thimble and Thread under her photo that's the quilt she did for me.

I took a chance, sent her my quilt - she did a fabulous job and I thought was reasonable given the size of the quilt.
