Bohin Marker Removal

by Paula
(Tulsa, OK)

Question:

I am using the Bohin Marking Pen with a pink lead. How do I get it off my top after I have marked it incorrectly?

Reply:

I believe that you are refering to the Bohin Mechanical Chalk Pencil. If so, there is an eraser that has worked for the green, yellow and white chalks that I have personally used so far.

I find that the markings do wear off as you quilt.

It may make sense for you to remark the quilt with another color (so that you know exactly which line to quilt) and let the chalk wear away from both sets of quilt markings as you are stitching.

If you are having trouble removing the markings, there are several remedies listed here at Remove Quilting Lines left by Chalk Markers.

It is always a good practice to test any removal techniques on an inconspicuous area first.

As noted at the end of that page, I have begun a test of a variety of markers and will report back on this website as to my findings. They will be announced in our newsletter, STASH Talk, and in a blog posting. Additionally, a link will be provided here to those same findings.

Readers, do you have any suggestions for this problem?

Please share your thoughts and opinions via the 'Comment' link below.

Thank you.

Piecefully,
