Birthday Spools Quilt

This quilt was made from a jelly roll (Beach Hut), and the backing and alternating strips were from one fabric. It involved sewing jelly roll strips to the alternating fabric (brown) and then cutting with a 45 degree ruler. The border is the piano keys one, from the jelly roll pieces.

It was very easy to make, and had no waste. It came out soft and cuddly and finished size was about 65 inches square. There are 36 spool blocks, and 4 trimmed ones for the corners.

I quilted it on my domestic sewing machine and made heart designs on the quilt. This was given to my son's girlfriend on her birthday, and she loves it.
