54-40 or Flight -- A Raffle Quilt for "Moms for Marines"

MomsforMarines Picnic Raffle Quilt

MomsforMarines Picnic Raffle Quilt

This is one quilt I made for my daughter's "Moms for Marines" picnic she holds every year for parents and families of Marines who are being deployed or going off to boot camp.

At the picnic we have a BBQ.....recruiters are there to answer any questions or concerns family members have about their son/daughter going off to boot camp. Many of the parents exchange e-mails, phone numbers to keep in contact with one another for support and new information. They have met many new friends at the picnics.

My grandson was in the Marines for four years and was deployed to Iraq. He is now out of the service and attending college. I cannot even begin to tell you how very proud I am of his decision to go into the force right out of high school. Believe me I was so very scared for his safety. But knowing what he was doing for his family and his country made me very proud all the same.

WOW
by: Tabatha

That is a beautiful quilt. My niece's fiancee is a Marine and has recently gotten into a severe car accident and is in the ICU right now. They are staying in a place called Arbour House that helps with housing for families and is an absolutely wonderful place! I want to make them a wall hanging to show hour appreciation as we don't have a lot of money to donate. Could you send me the name of this pattern? It is absolutely gorgeous and would be perfect. My email is kloudy_day@hotmail.com. Thank you so much!

My son is also currently in Afghanistan. It's not a cure, but quilting has helped keep my mind busy. Thanks for using your talent for the good of others.
